Command Task-5 — Blind Corner — How I’d Brief

SSB Command Task and Progressive Group Task briefing illustration — a candidate briefing two subordinates beside a painted outdoor obstacle.

You cannot see the finish from the start. Brief a recon, then a crossing. Two subordinates.

Command Task · You + 2 subordinates who did not see the far side · ~8 minutes

Obstacle

A canvas screen hides the finish. GTO allows you 20 seconds to look around the screen alone, then you must brief without looking again. Far side has an unexpected red rail.

Colour reminders

  • Screen is just cloth.
  • Far rail is red — you saw it in the 20-second look.
  • Start white.

Helping material & load

  • One plank
  • One rope
  • Tolvi

Load: Water can

What the GTO is waiting for

Your job is to transfer the picture. If you skip the red rail in the brief, they will hit it. Write what you say.

60-second speak clock

Start the clock and brief out loud (or on paper). Do not type here.

Idle

A complete brief (for comparison)

Steal the structure — aim, resources, sequence, roles, colour, fallback — not these exact words on the ground.

  1. Problem: finish is hidden; there is a red rail on the far left — do not use it as a handhold.
  2. Plan: I go first with the plank along the right white only; A follows; B passes the can; nobody goes left.
  3. Roles: I recon lead, A second, B can.
  4. Rules: if I shout “red” you freeze.
  5. Fallback: if the plank is short, rope-assist from me already on the far white — still not the red rail.
