Future wars will not wait for three services to hold three separate meetings. Theatre commands try to put one commander over one fight.
Body — three points (~90 seconds)
- The Chief of Defence Staff and Department of Military Affairs exist to force joint planning — air, land and sea in one design.
- Challenges are real: service cultures, budget control, and who owns aviation or air defence in a theatre.
- Your speech should say: jointness is the destination; theatre commands are a tool — they must be tested in exercises, not only on paper.
