Media and Democracy — SSB Lecturette Speech Outline

Fourth estate without a media-bashing rant. Use this outline under a 3-minute prep clock, then speak without reading.
Opening hook (~40 seconds)
A free press is how a country argues with itself in public — messy, necessary, and easy to break.
Body — three points (~90 seconds)
- Democracy needs facts that power cannot hide. That is the noble job of journalism.
- TRP incentives and social media rewards outrage. The citizen must pay for better information or get cheaper noise.
- Censorship and chaos are both failures. The adult position is law, ethics, and your own reading diet.
Closing line (~50 seconds)
Do not shoot the messenger. Do learn to spot when the messenger is selling tickets.
What to avoid
No party names. Speak of roles, not rival channels.
Practise with the hub timer and the Lecturette GTO guide (3-3-3 structure, body language, chit selection).
