Disaster Management in India — SSB Lecturette Speech Outline
NDMA, Armed Forces and the golden hour. Use this outline under a 3-minute prep clock, then speak without reading.
Opening hook (~40 seconds)
When the flood water hits the first floor, the best speech is a rehearsed drill — not a TV debate.
Body — three points (~90 seconds)
- India’s cycle is predictable: cyclone, flood, quake, heat. Preparedness must be seasonal, not improvised.
- NDMA, state forces and the Armed Forces (aid to civil authority) work best when maps and boats exist before the siren.
- Citizens: insurance, not blocking drains, knowing the assembly point. That is OLQ-level civic sense.
Closing line (~50 seconds)
The golden hour is built in peacetime.
What to avoid
Respect the forces’ aid role without making the Army the municipal corporation.
