Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Jobs — SSB Lecturette Speech Outline

SSB Lecturette practice illustration — candidate delivering a 3-minute speech at a lectern on the GTO ground to a semicircle of fellow candidates.

Tools, not Terminator — and who gets left behind. Use this outline under a 3-minute prep clock, then speak without reading.

Category: science tech · Format: 3 min prep + 3 min speech

Opening hook (~40 seconds)

AI will not take every job — but a person who uses AI will take the job of a person who refuses to learn.

Body — three points (~90 seconds)

  1. Routine writing, coding and customer support will shrink. Care, leadership, field craft and complex repair will not vanish.
  2. Schools must teach thinking and tools, not only rote answers — the same warning as graduate unemployment.
  3. Defence will use AI for maps, maintenance and cyber. Humans still own the ethical trigger.

Closing line (~50 seconds)

Treat AI as a junior clerk: useful, fast, never in command of your values.

What to avoid

Avoid science-fiction doom and avoid “AI will solve everything”.

Practise with the hub timer and the Lecturette GTO guide (3-3-3 structure, body language, chit selection).
